This land is their land

We all know why the Ruling Junta has been fighting to keep you from knowing who was part of Vice President Cheney's energy task force in 2001. Our energy strategy, which seems to be all about more and bigger giveaways to the massively profitable corporations that keep your Hummer humming, was, according to a leaked White House document obtained by the Washington Post crafted with the help of the Empire of Oil. Industry CEOs denied this before Congress as recently as last week although Commerce Chairman Ted Stevens (R-Alaska) cooperatively chose not to swear in the executives so they can’t be charged with perjury.

Testifying before the Senate Energy and Commerce committees, the chief executives of Exxon Mobil Corp., Chevron Corp. and ConocoPhillips said their firms did not participate in the 2001 task force. The president of Shell Oil said his company did not participate "to my knowledge," and the chief of BP America Inc. said he did not know. Cheney had a separate meeting with John Browne, BP's chief executive, according to a person familiar with the task force's work; that meeting is not noted in the document.

The Sierra Club was shut out of the meetings and they along with Judicial Watch tried in vain to obtain a list of who was there under the mistaken notion that this is in any way a free country – or even our country. You will remember how Dick “G.F.Y.” Cheney went duck hunting with Anton “quack-quack” Scalia before the Court decided to stiff us. They don’t even care how bad it looks and why should they? It’s not a free country, it’s their country and Freedom of Information means they’re free to withhold it and you’re free to Go F Yourself.

When they talk about Freedom, remember that for them, freedom means their freedom to wield power without restraint. We can’t ask, they won’t tell. Sure, it’s illegal to make false statements to Congress, even if the Lords of Oil weren’t under oath, but this is a government of men, oil men, and not of laws. I’m not going to waste time waiting for the law to get around to applying to the Lords of Oil.

Lying bags of shit. You can decide if that relates to big oil, and the administration.
