The cost of free speech

Lars Vilks has a price on his head: $100,000 for anyone who kills him and a $50,000 bonus if his throat is slit. He drew a picture of the Prophet Muhammed as a dog.

Randi Rhodes, the Air America host was beaten up in Manhattan last night at 39th and Park Avenue; her teeth knocked out. No purse, no jewelry, just a penchant for speaking against the right wingers.

Someone fired a shot through the window of KPFT in Houston, narrowly missing the host on the air at the moment. They've twice been blown up before by the Klan.

My local gun store has a nice deal on a Romanian AK with a folding stock. I'm thinking about it.

I'm glad Randi is relatively ok, and seems ready to get back on the air.

I'll be really curious how the mainstream media, or the radical right fringe wacko's (Coulter, Hannity, Malkin address this, if at all.

They cannot stand silent on this, if they do so, they are gutless, and should be called on it.

If they applaud it, in some type of twisted way, then they should be drawn and quartered.

If they condemn it then they maybe have a shred of decency.

It turns out, as you may have read by now, that Rhodes wasn't mugged as the first reports claimed, but simply had a bad fall.

Coulter, of course had no problem suggesting that it was a good thing to murder judges, but that's Coulter.

Of course the cartoonist had better keep looking over his shoulder and there's no mistaking the bullet hole in the radio station, but I guess I'll pass on buying the Kalashnikov for the moment.
