Don't go in the men's room

You're all too likely to find a gay bashing, family values protecting, Mitt Romney supporting Republican politician looking for fun. It's not surprising that Sen. Larry Craig (R-Idaho) who had been so very insulted at the obviously politically motivated accusations of being gay last year, was arrested for soliciting an undercover cop for sex at the Minneapolis airport in June, nor is is surprising that he tried to weasel out of the arrest by telling the cop he was a Senator. What amazes me is that he plead guilty and yet his office now says it was all a misunderstanding.

In a way it was, Craig didn't understand that it was a cop he was soliciting and the people of Idaho didn't understand what the Republicans are all about when they elected him.

This is really sad. We used to joke that you really had to wonder about virulently anti-gay (especially men)... i.e. what was their point? It appears more and more that self-loathing and deception are many of the motives (Haggard, Schafley, Craig and on and on). Either these people truly do not sleep soundly at night, or there are degrees of sociopathology where these people have a home in that continuum.

I don't know where Craig stood on the Clinton impeachment, but I have a hunch.

It's also great to see Romney following in the same path that Dobson did when his acolyte, Haggard, was exposed -- run as fast as you can in the opposite direction.

Whatever loathing they may have, it doesn't exceed my loathing for moralists who lecture us about values while cruising in public toilets. There have been so many that it can't be coincidence.

I honestly think some of them can partition their minds: somehow their own behavior doesn't impinge on their stated position.

Never the twain shall meet...

It's another form of schizophrenia.

It is insanity - I agree.

the cloud over idaho is nothing but craig himself....

That tape was disgusting. If he had admitted it, I would have had more respect for him.

trouble w/ all this: the stigma may b wha makes it happen. heard smbdy on tv (i think) say open gays don't do this kind o thing n don't molest kids either. i dunno if it's true, but i wdn't b surprised. the closet makes for shame n furtive bhavior.

got mixed feelings bout craig. on one hand, he's a hypocrite getting wha he deserves. on other, i feel sorry 4 him.
