Smilin' Tom

Could it be that reality has finally wiped that idiot grin off Tom Delay’s face? According to Roll Call News , Ol’ Smiley has spent close to a million Seven on legal defense and the meter is still rolling. Apparently he’s only got $640,000 or so left of what contributors have given him and with chump change like that, you’d think his new name would be Tom Who?

Of course the U.S. Capitol Historical Society, a congressionally chartered group, doesn’t let an indictment get in the way of issuing honors. Delay who escaped being drawn and quartered by the Ethics committee by sneaking out the back door will be honored in a special tribute to Retiring Members of the 109th Congress being held in the Capitol's Statuary Hall.

The only question remaining is whether the marble bust will be smiling or not.

Of course “Duke” Cunningham was stricken from the honor roll yesterday after much protest over honoring a convicted felon, but if it were up to me, I would have been quite happy to see a gleaming alabaster rendition of Duke in a striped suit with his serial number stenciled in red and a brass plaque reading: Randy Cunningham – R-California.

Don't start that bake sale yet for tommy boy. He'll get huge money from his book deal with the same publishers that give us Ann Coulter. He'll get a pundit job with Fox News and he'll get the lobbyists he put in place to pay fat speaking fees. He'll get a sweetheart land deal and anything else he wants. He'll be richer shortly than you can imagine.

Sure, and don't forget the Medal of Freedom and the statue in the capitol.

But I can imagine rich - I can imagine very rich.
