Spear chucker Obama

According to Raw Story, Mark Salter, a top McCain aide, told the Wall Street Journal last Friday that the campaign was tired of "catching the spears." That's right, he called Obama a spear-chucker.

The "spears" of course were allegations of McCain's unsavory connections with unsavory people, enough of which are sufficiently beyond question that the McCain campaign needs to invoke the victim image again in order to distract from the lobbyist crew that run the McCain/Palin Cirque de Sleazy.

The plan is to go negative, and this from a campaign Karl Rove thought was too negative already! This from the Swift Boat Party, the party who dragged McCain's baby daughter through the racist mud. The party that regularly paints war heroes as malingerers and familiars of bin Laden.

I really can't wait to see them resurrect the Pastor Wright controversy against the background of Sarah Palin's witch hunting "spiritual" leader. So far they have been rather successful in convincing us that McCain was exonerated in the Keating affair (he was censured for bad judgement) and in tap dancing around the information that despite his phony anti-lobbyist rhetoric, his top aides were lobbyists for Burma, various African dictators, oil tyrants and child enslavers, but the Clean John image is too flimsy to hold up for long.

I have a feeling that the mud slinging will backfire with all but his most psychotic admirers, but for connoisseurs of hypocrisy it's going to be quite a show anyway.

Spears be damned.

Keep the pressure up, and McCain will blow his top.

I have to admit that the old man is full of surprises - he knows he's losing ground on his economic ignorance and he's terrified that Obama will make a fool of him Friday, so he's off to Washington.

Seems like the war hero is a coward, but his supporters will see it the opposite way.

I don't see it as cowardice, however I do see it as an acknowledgement he can't multi-task, ie, he has to focus, and as a president you are always juggling multiple issues. Still it means, in the end, it will hurt him, in the eys of voters.

True, he can.t walk and chew gum, but he's afraid for anyone to know it, hence the accusation of cowardice.

He seems to be able to go on Katie Couric, but not to go to a debate? That is a very, very pathetic ruse.

He's just afraid and we know why.

he sd keating was his friend.

so wha does that say bout his judgment (tho, o course, a friend's not the same as a pastor or an ex-weatherman)?

but wha i really wanted 2 say was hero+victim=martyr, so mccain shdn't b runnin 4 president, he shd run 4 saint, or maybe even god!

Sigh. Guilt-by-association smears are slimy. Sarah Palin should be ashamed of herself.

The Pharisees smeared Jesus by pointing out that he was keeping the company of prostitues, sinners, tax-collectors.

Who anybody is friendly with is an irrelevant distraction and is character assasination.

What is important is specific actions, especially actions taken in the context of public service.

John McCain was not censured by the Senate Ethics Committee, true. But he was NOT EXONERATED by that body. He was, in fact, reprimanded. How convenient that this fact gets swept under the rug by McCain supporters.

"Exercising questionable judgement" is the phrase, and it's an exceedingly valid point for discussion, particularly when McCain brags about being "exonerated" in this affair.

I think we need officials who don't "exercise questionable judgement" in their official capacities.

Goes without saying - even though it needs to be said over and over.

This campaign threatens to set a new record for sleaze and dishonesty.
